FAMILY WITH ADULTS

A common misconception is that once your children grow into adults and start living on their own that all of a sudden parenting would feel easier.

Family Dynamics Change as we age

For the majority of families, adulthood only brings new and different challenges into the picture. This can be a difficult time for both parents and their adult children for a few reasons, like:

Stop carrying around those old hurts

This type of counselling can be very useful if any or all family members find themselves carrying around old hurts and resentments. These feelings are not something that you need to live with.

Rather than continue to hurt, we can work together to ensure that all family members have their feelings and perceptions validated and acknowledged, then we can work on healing those wounds in a safe, caring space.

There are no wrong reasons to seek out guidance if you feel like your family is struggling. Although fighting and disagreements are totally normal, feeling completely disconnected and numb towards a family member may also be calling out to be healed.

The only way to true healing, even though it is very difficult, is to peel back the layers of disappointments, frustrations, and resentments to reveal what lies below, which is usually pain, fear, or shame.

Allow counselling to guide you into true clarity so that your family dynamic doesn’t need to feel weighed down anymore.
