Its not your fault

Having experienced trauma is one of the most common reasons to seek out counselling, and rightly so.

Much of what you may need to communicate in order to heal can feel like too much for the average person to help you process.

A traumatic experience can be any of the following and more:

  1. One-time traumatic incident such as an accident, serious injury, or violent attack
  2. Ongoing trauma such as childhood violence, domestic abuse, or constant, lifelong stressors like growing up in an underprivileged neighbourhood, serving in the military or working as a first responder
  3. Grief or unexpected changes like surgery, serious illness, a sudden death of a loved one, or even the end of an important relationship

A Safe Space for You

A registered psychologist can help in several ways, including creating a space place for any and all emotions to come forth. Trust, reciprocity, respect, and compassion are some keys that we aim to bring to the experience so that you don’t feel dismissed or your problems minimized in any way.
